left my apatment this morning. I walked to the corner to get a cab to
the airport, staring at sidewalk. The sidewalk slithered. This
confused me for a nanosecond until I realized that I was gazing upon a
panicked snake.
The snake slithered back and forth in a series of s-curves. Its pace
was breakneck as it moved toward the street. "Uh, don't go there!" I
silently urged.
No matter how unfortunate things are right now, I don't have it as bad
as that poor, terrified snake. Good luck, little guy!

I never see snakes, but there was a week when I saw two, one on my way to work (in Berkeley) and one on the way back (in San Leandro). Both times when I said, "Oh, a snake," all of the various bystanders assumed I had snake experience. Which turns out to be true, but how did they know?
ReplyDeleteuh oh! no wonder he was panicked.
ReplyDeletei'll have to tell you the snake omen story from when i was a teaching assistant on our trip if i can remember it.
wait, what? there was a snake in the city on the sidewalk? okay, now i am freaked out.
ReplyDeleteIt was a little snake, although it moved like a sidewinder, and I don't know if other snakes move that way. I thought it might be a pet that someone discarded. People are idiots like that.
