Mars is in Sight...
Thanks to my lack of sleep last night, I am on edge and jittery today. I couldn't stand it any more and called New School's admission office a few minutes ago even though I emailed them yesterday inquiring about my status. Although the nice guy who answered the phone could not tell me what the decision was, he did verify that my file came back to the admissions office yesterday, so I should find out soon. Hopefully, their office will process whatever it is quickly. If I can eat my Mars bar by Saturday afternoon, that would be nice.

So I know this isn't the same thing, but I saw a segment on the Today show on getting into college and they said that the squeaky wheel gets oiled and that you should call call call. Also send in extra letters of recommendations etc. I did that for undergrad and it worked. Lorraine told me that it's a big plus with her for law students who are waitlisted.
ReplyDeleteOoops - too late for that now, anyway. I did try and kiss ass at Hunter, but was not very successful. Actually, in January I emailed the director of the program at New School because the stupid admissions office lost my transcript and didn't inform me that my application was incomplete until a few days before the deadline. In my email, I expressed my burning desire to attend New School and hoped that they would consider my application even if I missed the deadline. I never heard back from him. I also rushed up to Columbia, picked up a transcript, and hand delivered it to the New School the day before the deadline, plus had additional copies mailed. The fine folks didn't bother processing it for another 3 days, making me miss the deadline by two days, which they assured me was fine. Whatever.
ReplyDeleteI guess we shall soon find out what the ultimate response is. I have a bad feeling, but mostly because it is so hard for me to imagine that I'd get in after all this time.
What are you going to do with the Mars bar if you don't get in?
ReplyDeleteI always planned to eat the Mars bar regardless of the news. It's a celebration of the end of the process.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like the program in the end if you do get in! :-) It's been a lot of work and headache.
