My mom has a great sense of humor. Exhibit 1: While I was growing up, she had one of those classic ‘70s t-shirts with a message about sex. As you can see above, it says in sparkly silver, red, white and blue: “Sex is a misdemeanor - de more I miss, de-meaner I get.” As a seven year old, I didn’t pay much attention to the message, although I did like all the glitter. She wore it all the time, and when at some point I realized what it meant, and I was both horrified and amused. Since we are Jewish white trash, she never gets rid of her clothes, she still wears that t-shirt today, which I love.Yes, that is my mom, and she is awesome.
Your mom rules. When I was in Jr High, my mom told me to suck & not blow when it comes to boys. She didn't want her daughter going through the same humiliating situation she did when she was young...

ReplyDeleteit makes me miss the "A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle" shirt my mom gave me when I was 7.... (it was the same color blue as your moms shirt and had the same glittery iron-on... the letters were bubbly and there was a fish on a bike...) ah. the days...
ReplyDeleteAh, yes - my mom is good quality! She also had that woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle shirt AND she also has a shirt that says "A Woman's place is in the House... and the Senate." Now that I think about it, those little shirts were a hell of a lot more interesting than the crap they sell today that says "Slut" or "I love boys." Even the sex t-shirts were wittier back then.
