It is unseasonably warm in New York this week. As a result, I dressed myself today in a denim skirt, white tights, and black Mary Jane shoes since I didn't worry about being cold as I walked around. Heck, if I regularly shaved my legs, I could have even gone bare legged it is so warm out. I wore my little brown leather jacket just in case the temperature dropped later tonight.
Anyway, the first stop on my list of errands was the bank. AS I approached the little table with the deposit slips, an older woman was already stationed there filling out forms. She had her cane on the rest of the table, and made no effort to move it out of my way as I tried to fill my slip out. Thus when she walked away and forgot, I didn't feel any obligation to remind her that she left her cane behind. A few moments later she must have noticed, and she wandered back towards me and the table. "Excuse me, sir, " she said as she grabbed the cane in front of me.
Sir? Not that there is anything wrong with it, but since when do men wear skirts outside of Scotland? And hasn't it been about 200 years since our Founding Fathers pranced about New York in white stockings? Yeesh.
On the flip side of the coin, my friend Elli sent me an adorable picture of her 3 year old and 4 month old sons in the giraffe Halloween costumes. So cute! I spoke to her this afternoon, though, and she told me that people kept telling her what cute little girls she had when she took them trick-or-treating. Not that she cared, but we had no idea that giraffes were automatically female. Next year, she should either dress them in Rambo outfits or in denim skirts with white tights and Mary Jane shoes. Then everyone will know that they are male.

I'm glad you didn't remind Crazy Old Lady about her cane. Boys don't do that kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteSomeone called me a fag once. I guess it's because I too was dressed femininely. Of course there is no way I'm a girl. I must be a gay man.
Ha ha ha.
ReplyDeletea propos of nothing, I think you need these:
